Lightly grease the hot waffle iron with cooking spray or a little butter.
Pour the appropriate amount of batter onto the center of the iron, spreading it slightly if needed.
Close the lid and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the steam stops and the waffles are beautifully golden brown and crisp. Carefully remove the waffle.
Repeat step 6 with the remaining batter.
